Water- hydrogen ICE testing and optimisation

I installed and commissioned the advanced water injection system in the Brunel dual-fuel, heavy-duty, single-cylinder engine. This achievement represents the second test cell to undergo this significant upgrade, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing engine performance and promoting environmental sustainability.
One of the main challenges encountered during this process was the limited access to the Engine Control Unit (ECU), which could have impeded the integration of the new system. However, I overcame this obstacle by implementing an innovative external injection driving and synchronizing system. This approach ensured precise control of the water injector, allowing for optimal engine performance.
The water injection system will operate alongside hydrogen/diesel fuel platforms, making it essential for exploring the potential benefits of water injection on both performance metrics and emissions reductions. I am genuinely excited to observe the results of this integration and evaluate how water injection can positively influence the engine's efficiency and environmental impact. This project aims to enhance engine performance and aligns with our goal of advancing sustainable fuel technology.
